Police and Civil Society Hold Talks In Zwedru

Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County – Grand Gedeh County New Police Commander today holds meeting with Grand Gedeh Civil Society Network in Zwedru.
Speaking to Local Voices Liberia Reporter, Col. Samuel DD Wandah said the meeting is aimed at building a coordination and cooperation between the security apparatus and the Civil Society of the county. He said the presence of CSOs in the security sector of the County will help reduce problems of crimes in the community and citizens will be confident to follow their cases in the court for speedy trial.

Wandah lamented that the only way the police can be more vigilant in capturing crimes is when the community is open with the police adding that citizens should see the Police ‘like their brother and sister not enemy’.
He then disclosed that there is a plan underway to meet the communities and other lines Ministry to include Ministry of transport, Liberia marketing Association, Business Community amongst others.

The Grand Gedeh Police Boss maintained that as the United Nation in Liberia is drawing down, Liberians must stand strong in maintaining the peace. Mr. Wandah however used the media to call on Citizens to work with the community police in their respective community.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson for Grand Gedeh Civil Society Network commanded the Grand Gedeh Police Commander for identifying and recognizing the present of the CSOs in Grand Gedeh. Mr. Williams Quawaye added that the meeting is the first of its kind in Grand Gedeh County.
He said during the discussion there were severer issues discussed in the interest of the people and the Network at large to include Coordination, Collaboration and Cooperation. He said when these things are achieved Peace will continue to reign among the people.
