HUNTERS IN GRAND GEDEH APPEAL TO GOVERNMENT TO LIFT THE BAN ON THE SALES OF BUSH MEAT

By: MOSES GEPLY
ZWEDRU-GRAND GEDEH COUNTY
Some hunters in Grand Gedeh County said government ban imposed on bush meat sales in Liberia has brought   set-back to them in the County.

According to Eric Tobay, a hunter from the Tchien Zonnie belt in Grand Gedeh County, they have been faced with financial difficulties in catering to the basic needs of their families since the outbreak of the Ebola virus which led to the imposition of ban on bush meat trading in Liberia.

He said the situation is making life difficult for them in the county as some of them cannot afford to support their family specially the education of the children.

Eric Tobay is therefore calling on the national government to reconsider its decision to lift the ban imposed on the sales of bush meat as the spread of Ebola  continue to reduce in Liberia so that they can return to their major source of income.

Meanwhile marketers involved in bush meat trading at the Zwedru Centre market are also appealing to the Liberian government to permit them to begin trading in bush meat.
