Tubmanberg, Bomi County – The Civil Service Agency (CSA) has awarded Bomi County Health Officer, Dr. Gorbee Logan and Dr. Jerry Brown of the ELWA Hospital in Monrovia as civil servants of the year.
Dr. Logan made the disclosure Wednesday at the Bomi County Health Team regular IMS meeting. Doctors Logan and Brown were awarded due to their outstanding performance in the fight against Ebola in Liberia.
The CSA is the government’s agency responsible for employing civil servants.
At the same time, the Bomi County Health Officer is calling on the public to stop spreading rumors about a new outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease in the County. He mentioned that his call comes as a result of inquiry by his colleague in Margibi County to confirm if there is a new outbreak in Bomi County. He urged partners involved in the fight against Ebola to use their rumor management skills to respond to the public and avoid panic and mistrust.
It can be recalled that Liberia has experienced one of the unprecedented outbreak of the EVD in the sub region which infected over 21000 people and caused 3500 deaths in the country.

Meanwhile, the Bomi County health Officer has called on non-governmental organizations in Bomi County to help get-rid of bats in the Suehn Mecca Clinic.
Dr. Logan told partners that there is a huge colony of bats living in the ceiling of the Suehn Mecca Clinic which is creating fear amongst the health workers and residents who seek health care at the clinic.
He pointed out that though they have changed some of the zinc over the clinic the bats are still making their way through the edge of the zinc and their feces are polluting the area which some assert is a potential carrier of the Ebola Virus.
