Harper – Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Francis Kateh, on Thursday, July 29 ended an assessment of Covid-19 treatment units in Maryland County where he evaluated the condition of these facilities and the care that are being given to patients.

Dr Keteh, who is also Liberia’s Chief Medical Officer, encouraged Covid-19 patients to accept treatments because it is a chance of recovering for the virus.
“We are here to check on you to also give hope to all of you so that you can go through your proper treatment, because some of you are afraid of the treatment because you say it’s meant to kill you,” he said.
“But I am here to say all your hope is not lost as we at the level of the Minister are always there to find the treatment for you all and thank God Liberia is moving gradually.”
He also thanked the County Health Team and partners for caring for patients who are the treatment unit while stressing the importance of buttressing the government’s effort.
“Yes, government has the sole responsibility of taking care of its people but based on the partnership we developed with our international NGOs and others, that help to make sure everything that is done is done properly to save their lives,” he said.
The Ministry of health and partners are trying to promote good health education and rapid testing to ensure transmission is curbed Dr. Kateh said.
“As long as we break transmission within the community, among families, the better we all can be and the safer this country is going to be. This is why we have instituted rapid tests, and with the rapid tests we can begin to do surveillance and go to the community and break transmission,” he added.
Thirteen persons, who have tested positive for Covid-19 in the county are currently being isolated and treated at the J.J. Dossen Memorial Hospital and the clinic at the Cavalla Rubber Corporation respectively.
