Rivercess County Health Team and partners launched Measles, Polio, and Deworming Campaign.

The Rivercess County Health Team and partners on Friday, May 8, 2015 launched the Measles, Polio, and Deworming Campaign in Rivercess County.

More than two hundred parents and care givers with their children attended the ceremony held in the Township of Little Liberia.

The County Health Officer, Doc. Wilmont smith, in a happy mode boasted that he and his men will vaccinate more than twelve thousand children during the campaign period.

“I am so impressed with this turn-out and I can assure the people of River Cess that we will vaccinate more than twelve thousand Children” Doc. Smith Boasted.

“We have two hundred teams of fifty members each in the eight Administrative Districts of River Cess County carrying out the exercise”. The CHO maintain.

When quizzed about the targeted population, the Chief Medical officer said twelve thousand seventy two children from six to fifty nine months will receive Measles Vaccine.

“For Polio, fourteen thousand three hundred ninety five children, day of birth to fifty nine months will receive two drops each, while eleven thousand eight children twelve to fifty nine months will be Dewormed” Doc. Smith said.

River Cess County Assistant Superintendent for Development, Madam Ruth Sawmandal, District #2 Representative, Hon Byron Zanwhea, were amongst County Officials who graced the ceremony.

The campaign is expected to run from Friday, May 8, 2015, to Thursday May 14, 2015.

Many did not expect the huge turnout as there have been rumors of mixing Ebola trial vaccine with Measles vaccine.
