Grand Bassa County: 17 New Confirmed Cases
Grand Bassa Health Team has confirmed 17 new cases of COVID-19 at the Liberia Agriculture Company’s concession area.
Dr. Anthony M. Tucker, County Health Officer, confirmed that 73 samples were collected from health workers in LAC who came in contact with index case at the LAC Hospital.
Out of the 17 confirmed cases, 10 are males and seven are females. All 17 confirmed patients are “in stable condition and being kept at the LAC Hospital,” Dr. Tucker said.
Currently, 120 contacts are being traced in the county as the LAC Hospital has been temporarily closed to the public.
Bong County: Supporting the Health Sector
Kwatekeh Association of Minnesota and Partnership for Community Transformation USA have presented several materials to the Bong County Health Team to enhance the fight against the COVID-19 response in the county.
Materials donated includes 40 pieces of mattresses, 40 bags of 25kg rice, 300 gallons of fuel and assorted detergents, among others.
Moses Bailey, the Country Representative for the organization, recommitted the organization’s continued support to the county’s healthcare delivery system.
Meanwhile, Philip Mckay, the country liaison officer for Partnership for Community Transformation USA, said the gesture is the organization’s own way of identifying with the county health team during the coronavirus pandemic.
Taking delivery of the items, the County Health Officer, Dr. Adolphus Yeiah lauded Mr. Chester Sackie Sr, the organization’s Executive Director for the initiative.
He then appealed to other organizations both Liberia and in the diaspora to support the CHT in its response against the coronavirus.
Grand Gedeh County: One More Confirmed Case
The County Health Team has recorded one more confirmed case of COVID-19, putting the total number of confirmed cases in the county at four.
Making the disclosure, Dr. Varmuyan A. Kromah, Medical Director of the Martha Tubman Memorial Referral Hospital, said the patient is linked to the county’s index case announced on July 19, 2020.
He said from the index case the county health team in collaboration with the German International organization have quarantined nine of NGO’s staff in Zwedru, where one of the quarantined persons were tested positive.
“As we speak, Grand Gedeh County has four cases of COVID-19, one is at the 14 Military Hospital in Monrovia while the three are been transferred to the treatment unit (TU) undergoing treatment,” Dr. Kromah said.
“With partner support, they are feed twice a day both at the treatment unit and quarantine center outside of Zwedru”.
Meanwhile, Dr. Kromah has called on people of the county to stop the denying the existence of the virus.
Grand Cape Mount County: Enhancing COVID-19 Awareness
The Bea Mountain Mining company in Grand Cape Mount County has lunched its COVID-19 awareness campaign in Kinjor Town, Gola Konneh District.
The launch was held on July 27 with members of the Joint Security, Community Watch Forum, and residents of Kinjor Community.
Speaking at the event, Henry Vincent, Bea Mountain’s Community Relations Manager, cautioned that the lifting of the State of Emergency makes it more important to intensify public awareness about COVID-19.
He said this ensure workers and residents of the concession area remain focused and continue to observe the health protocols.
Vincent added that the company has engaged a local business institution in the county to produce several nose masks that will be distributed to residents of Kinjor and other surrounding villages.
